Grant Street Music Room is pleased to present “The Jess Goggans Band” for a special night featuring a blistering set of Janis Joplin and her own high energy original music.
Homegrown and raised in the Northeast corner of Alabama, singer/songwriter Jess Goggans puts her entire soul into her music and every ounce of her heart into every single performance. Recognized for her sultry Southern grit, soulful melodies, and high-energy stage presence, it is said that you can literally feel her voice moving through you. Jess’ music defies genre; it’s been referred to as “get down music,” with influences of funk, rock, and blues. She is accompanied by some of the finest musicians in the Southeast.
Music has been in the Goggans family for generations; Jess’ father, who plays keys on her debut record Reality (released in 2014), made his mark in the 70s touring with Sam and Dave. Jess herself has been owning the stage since the early age of five. Jess Goggans has performed everywhere around Florabama and the Deep South, including the acclaimed Riverbend Festival and her personal favorite venue, Gip’s Place (one of the last surviving JUKE joints, and renowned for hosting luminaries such as Buddy Guy and BB King). Jess has shared the stage with Bernie Worrell of Parliament-Funkadelic and the Talking Heads, Randy Owens of Alabama, Caroline Aiken, Jocelyn Arndt, Donna Hopkins, Copious Jones, and more.
